12 Horse...from the beginning
12HORSE was formed in the fall of 1999 as a side project of guitarist Shawn McCloskey & bassist Chris Carroll.; Together, with a common love of free form jamming, they decided to start having impromptu jam sessions with various drummers around the Philadelphia area. In That same year Dominic Cole became the full time drummer of 12HORSE when he left his band The Loners, thus completing the trio's line-up. 12HORSE's music has been compared to
bands as progressive as Rush as southern sounding as Goverment Mule
and as aggressive and melodic as System of a Down.
The band signed on with booking agents Mole Management &; began to play around the Philadelphia & New York areas. Known for there long sets with a mix of originals covers as well as some jamming, the band began to pack the clubs and started to be in more demand. Offered a tour in Daytona Fl. at Bikeweek, 12HORSE traveled the two thousand miles to start a spring tour and in turn made their first East Coast road trip from Daytona to Philly,playing 28 dates , this tour has become a yearly event ever since. With a growing fan base the need was felt for a recording so, 12HORSE recorded an EP entitled Live @ the Matthews The band followed the successful EP with a studio EP in September of 2002entitled ;In A Time of Drunk'n Horses both recorded by engineer Dave Matthews. The two EP's have sold well over 5000 copies each in the months they have been available.
12HORSE have managed to not only reach the top of MP3's charts with several songs, but have also been played on over 1000 Internet radio stations and currently have been downloaded over 25,425 timesin 2005 alone. 12HORSE has also been voted Philadelphia's # 1 Orginal band twice on the national Barstar Poll.
12HORSE are currently shopping their EP's to record labels, and are
recording thier first full length album for release in early 2006 To date
the band has been touring the Daytona, Fl., Atlanta, Ga, Durham, NC,
Baltimore, Md, Los Angeles, Ca &New York area's.
12HORSE are members of the Just Plain Folks Organization and
each year plays a Tri-State Songwriters Mini-tour With JPF.
JPF have Nominated 12HORSE for "Best Hard Rock Song
of 2001 for thier single Darkest Daysthe band traveled to L.A.
to preform at the JPF showcase in Nov. of 2001 & 2002.
